British Airways on Monday resumed procedures to Pakistan, over a decade after they were canceled in Sept 2008 in the wake of the Mariott Hotel bombing in Islamabad. British Airways’ Boeing 787 Dreamliner departed from Heathrow, London, with 240 voyagers on board, and handled down at Islamabad International Airport ( IIA ) at 9: 15 am this morning.
The air travel will fly thrice weekly between London and Islamabad. Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Consultant to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari and also senior authorities of the Aviation Division and British High Commission greeted warmly the travellers at the airport.
"The resumption of flight function of British Airways is excellent. Today is a wonderful day for each Pakistan and Britain and we are also happy regarding the much better protection situation in the nation,” said British High Commissioner Thomas Drew. Unprecedented protection, including a lot more than 600 police, Fast Response Force units and snipers were in place at the time of the flight’s arrival.
"Return of British Airways is the 1st step. We will offer and facilitate further airlines to boost international connectivity in Pakistan,” Bukhari said while speaking to Radio Pakistan. The similar aircraft departed for Heathrow at 11: 10 am with passengers on board from Islamabad.
